I, personally, see many uses for this technology. But hey, it's all about the games themselves! Also, the graphics for Eye Toy: Play are admittedly a bit blocky. The only potential problem I saw, was that during games involving lots of on-screen objects, such as Kung Foo, your projected image becomes a bit blurry. High scores give the user a chance to boost his ego by having his picture taken for the high score list. Other games involve "juggling" UFOs, keeping spinning plates spinning, a boxing match, and ghost hunting. Kung Foo, on the other hand, takes the less peaceful approach of letting you whip the collective posteriors of a bunch of ninjas, and other assorted baddies. The Eye Toy ships with about 12 minigames on a CD entitled Eye Toy: Play.
If they only knew what I am doing! I am playing the first true motion-sensitive game for the masses! During the course of which, I have been stared at, had people laugh at me, and made other people grab their kids and stay close to the other side of the aisle. Thus began a series of wasted afternoons at the toy store. It worked! The ball flew in the air, came down, "hit" my forehead, and sailed back up. I turned my hat around, and started "hitting" the ball onscreen with my head. The ball "bounced" against it, and went a bit higher in the air. I moved, and the ball on the screen reacted. ( Population: Tire, anyone?) I instinctively grabbed a controller and started pressing buttons. The instructions, in Dutch, told me to try to keep the ball in the air without it touching the ground for as long as possible. I walked timidly up to the console, where I saw my image on-screen, with a soccer ball bouncing around it. Why were they hyping this stupid camera? I was determined to find out. It'll be replaced next week, nobody's using it."Ī week later, it was still up, and my curiosity finally got the better of me. Most likely for online gaming, personal photos, or some other such novelty. After all, doesn't it have everything else? Nice idea, same weird PS2 design. Now, my first reaction to this revelation was: "That's nice. Hope it works for you.and a weird program on-screen that was showing my image set in a weird backdrop.

I've installed this on 2 different Windows 10 machines, one running Windows version 1909 and the other running version 1903. You'll find that the default Windows 10 Camera app does not recognize the PS2 EyeToy, but know that it does work in Zoom, Google Hangouts, OBS, and other webcam apps. Once it completes, you're done with those steps.

Confirm that yes, you do want to install the unsigned driver, and wait for Windows to do its thing.

Under "Manufacturer", scroll down to "Guillemot" and select the EyeToy driver that's listed (if you look up the driver's eyetoy.inf file in a text editor, you'll see the vendor details).

Next, choose "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer". Select the option to "Browse my computer for driver software".
In Windows Device Manager, right click on the EyeToy camera, then select "Update driver". Ideally, you'd be done with setup after that, but there are another set of steps you have to do, none of which were detailed in any of the videos or write-ups I've seen as they were done for Windows 7 and 8. Once you've restarted Windows 10 with driver signature enforcement disabled, extract the Namtai Eyetoy drivers, right-click on "eyetoy.inf" and select "Install". But once you're done installing the drivers, you can reboot your computer so that driver signature enforcement is back to being enabled. The EyeToy Namtai drivers are unsigned, so you can't do this via a normal startup. Once you have the drivers, you're going to need to restart Windows 10- via the advanced boot option-into the mode that disables driver signature enforcement. Since you mentioned having a Namtai model, grab the drivers for that. This old YouTube video has links in its description to the drivers I have successfully used in Windows 10 to get my old PlayStation 2 EyeToy cameras working. It's a pain in the ass, but they do work.
